birth-mom visit

Since the boys are foster to adopt and the parents rights haven't been terminated yet we have weekly visits with the birth parents that we're required to do. Today was the first of this such visiting. Only their birth-mom showed up. We dropped the boys off and Green Machine cried when we left. It was so sweet, okay, I know crying toddlers aren't usually sweet, but that means he's getting attached and that's a good thing people! We took the girls to the library, which was one of the most uninviting libraries I have every been to. You had to get a key for the bathroom and when Evie was looking at the fish with me and pointing at them and touched the glass and I asked her not to touch it the librarian said in a not so nice tone, "you're old enough you should know better than that!" Evie was not tapping on the glass, just barely touching it, and how old do you think she is? That you had to pay for parking! Okay, enough about the library. The DCF office wasn't much better. There were only five visitor parking spots. All the rest were reserved and you weren't allowed to park in them. When we came back to pick the boys up we visited a little with their birth-mom, I found out Little Boy Blues middle name, which wasn't on any of the paperwork we have and was driving me nuts and that was about it. We drove the hour back home and both boys napped in the car. When we got home Green Machine completely lost it. Nathan had to take him and rock him for a little bit to calm him down. Visiting birth parents is a hard thing for little kids. Green Machine is much more of the sensitive type, so it didn't surprise me he had a hard time with it.
In other news both boys love doing "row, row, row your boat" with me and Little Boy Blue now asks for it with "row, row, row!" and he says "yuck" which I guess is a new word for him, at least the social workers and birth-mom were surprised when he said it today. Yuck is a good word to use, and he used it in context, he picked food off the ground and ate it and they said they tried to stop him, but it was too late and then he spit it out and said "yuck" :-)
