Couch Potato Truck Rally

Our church hosted a couch potato truck rally. What is that you ask? It's an event where you got around in trucks (or suvs with trailers on the back) with a couch, solve clues and take pictures of yourself being silly at the various locations you had to go to.
Walking out to the couches for a group picture at the end, it was a beautiful evening!
Here are Hannah and Evie with their team at the end of the evening
The boys won some potatoes!
They were tied for last.
Juggling potatoes?
Nathan went with the boys and was the official photographer for their group :-) Here they're at an eagle head and the boys are the birds of prey while the other guys are the prey.
Nap time for Damen
A picture at the center of town with a stranger, you got bonus points for each stranger you got in the picture, my group had 11 and I think that pretty much sealed the deal for us winning it.
Hanging around at the park
Inside Home Depot
And plenty of silliness!
And hanging out on the couches after church the following Sunday. :-)

A play

The local theater did an educational show for our homeschool group at the library. They did the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and taught the kids about the five parts of the story. The exposition, the rising action, the climax, the falling action and the resolution.
Here they are going over the parts of the story at the beginning of the show.
And here is a shot during the show. It was a good outing.

Balloons!

My Mom very thoughtfully sent my kids a large package of balloons after visiting. The kids love balloons and have been having a great time with them.
These are supposed to be 12 inch balloons, but Evie and Kaleb were able to get them just a wee bit bigger, like HUGE! But when they popped they were a bit scarey so we've had to stop them form having them this big and tied, but Kaleb still loves blowing them up this big and then letting them fly.

Easter!

My parents and Debbie came for Easter. Nathan had a pretty packed weekend, preaching at a Good Friday service, a funeral to attend on Saturday and church on Sunday, but we were able to have a little fun as well. At least the kids were :-)
Stomping around in the flooded backyard
Making silly faces with Aunt Debbie
Going for a hike with everyone!
The kids found a few snakes.
Here's one
And then everyone but Hannah had left and the snakes started mating, at least that's our best guest at what they were doing.....Hannah took the video and scared them.
Cute kids!
And the kids got to dye some eggs.
Over all not a bad weekend.

Evie's new hardware

The Tuesday before Easter Evie got her upper and lower expander put in. After the first day of cranking she was all good with it. If her mom could just remember when she was supposed to have stopped cranking we would have been in better shape. It's been a rough couple weeks and I may have cranked her a few extra days, but hopefully it won't be a problem......
Here you can see the expanders
And here's what her teeth were are looking like at the beginning.

Out walking last week...

We've been enjoying Spring and have been on a few family walks. Last week walking our neighborhood we passed a tree that had a "For Sale" sign on it. The boys looked at it and said "Look Mom! We can buy the tree, can we buy the tree please?"

Castles

The boys had a great time building with blocks yesterday. Sunday we got our upstairs play area cleaned up again. It seems to be a never ending battle to keep it under control, but the boys love to play up there when it's clean. They do not enjoy the cleaning part. Anyway, they made some pretty cool castles, but I like the expressions on their faces even more than the buildings :-)
Damens on the left looking at Kaleb
Notice their castle got bigger!
Smiles!

Ice Skating

The ice rink in town has had free ice skating with free rentals the past few Sundays. We've made it to one so far and are hoping to make it to another this coming weekend. None of the kids had ever ice skated before, but Hannah and Evie have rollerbladed a little. Hannah was able to figure out the ice skating thing on her own, the other three were using some training bars and doing a little on their own as well. Damen and Kaleb fell quite a few times, but they were both determined to keep trying which was good.
Here's Kaleb and Evie skating around
Hannah being cool ;-)
Nathan helping Damen up after a fall
The boys skating around with Daddy.
Hannah skating off
Evie, ever so happy to have her picture taken :-)
