Dress a veggie night

The girls started doing AWANA this year and are loving it! Evie is about half way through her book and Hannah only has three memory verses and she's done with her book. The books that are supposed to take a year to go through. Hannah's book came with a CD of the entire book, we've had it in the car and both girls have memorized the whole thing. It's amazing, and very cool. I love how they're learning so many Bible verses! Anyway, one of the things AWANA does to keep things fun is different themes or different things to do each week. Last week was dress a veggie. The girls both picked out cucumbers at the store and had a great time dressing them up. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of their finished cucumbers but they were cute. Here are pictures of them working on their veggies.
The heart you see next to the cucumber was used along with three other hearts for pants for her little guy :-)
For Hannah's we cut out some cloth pants and a shirt for it.

A Boston Visit

Nathan took last Friday off and we headed up to Boston. We went to visit Aunt Becca and Uncle Lucas and spend the night at their house.
The first thing we did was take a walk to the park. The girls were so excited to see Aunt Becca and Uncle Lucas and have a "sleepover" at their house! :-)
The park was great! It had giant diggers that the girls enjoyed. As well as a nice play set and lots of ride on toys! Apparently the Boston park culture is to bring toys and leave them there for everyone to share. There was a play kitchen up in the play set and lots of sand toys as well.
Here's Evie having fun digging and you can see some of the ride on toys in the background. There was a basketball court with more rides there as well.
After the park we walked to the library and checked out some books, then we stopped and picked up some Chinese food. Yum! We went home to eat and then headed out again for ice cream!
Here the girls are finishing up their ice cream. Unfortunately I didn't think to pull out my camera at the beginning of the ice cream experience. There was quite a variety of colors, Becca and Nathan had purple (black raspberry), Hannah had blue, Evie had green and Lucas and I had white.
After the ice cream it was bed time. Here are the girls a sleep and snuggling. Aren't they cute? This really happened because our air mattress was deflating at an alarming rate. It had a hole in it that we didn't know about. I ended up pumping it two three times during the night. We found the hole when we got home and patched it, so hopefully it will work better next time! Evie slept through the pumping up and deflated mattress not waking even once, Hannah would wake up when it got low enough that Evie rolled into her and complain. :-)
Aunt Becca read them lots and lots and lots of books!

Having fun with Uncle Lucas!

Tickle time with Aunt Becca!
Group photo!
After the fun with Aunt Becca and Uncle Lucas we headed off to cause chaos else where. Namely Aunt Rachael and Uncle Sean's house :-)
We brought blocks, little people and Christmas gifts (it's never too early for Christmas right?). Jamie had a blast with the little people and didn't want to do anything else!
Hannah enjoyed their books while the chaos was going on!
And the always cool Sean sat back and watched :-)
The girls enjoyed playing outside quite a bit. Uncle Sean had made a very fun swing set and they had lots of things to play with. I only got a very random picture of Hannah outside....sorry.....We also had fun playing with River
Who is a very smiley, happy baby!
All in all a great trip and we hope to go back again soon!

Sledding! And more snow fun

Wednesday late afternoon/evening we went out in the snow again. More had fallen and the girls had a grand time just running and falling into the snow. It was very dry snow so there wasn't much else that could be done with it on Wednesday. However on Thursday the girls enjoyed the snow again in the morning before it all melted. Since it had warmed up it was a good texture for snowballs and I taught them how to roll a big snowball. They also had their first sledding experience on the hill in our front yard. They loved it! Hannah really enjoyed it and just kept going up and down, she was having so much fun. It was great to watch her. And I even went down a few times too.
Here are the pictures from Wednesday evening:

Hannah in the middle of a winter wonderland!

There was a doe with her two babies in our front yard when we went out (in the middle of the picture). They stuck around for quite awhile considering all the noise the girls were making.

They were so excited to just run through the snow!

More snow angels!

Tromping through the woods in our front yard.

They really liked that they could walk anywhere and it was all covered with snow.

Snow!
Here are the pictures from Thursday:

I made this snowman and Evie put the arms in it.

On the sled for the first time....

And there she goes!

Hannah going....going.....going....

Gone!
There was lots of sledding fun!

Hannah having a ride all bundled up!
Going together!

Hannah figured out on her own she could go down on her stomach.
Evie with her first big snowball.

Climbing up the hill.......

And back down again! She got hot and took off her hat and jacket :-)

Hannah knocked the snowman down and made a chair for herself after Evie had gone in.

A sun day

We didn't take any days off when the public schools were closed for Sandy. Or when it snowed last week and they had early dismissal and late start the next day. Since we didn't miss a day then I figured today, since it's beautiful blue sky and super sunny it'd be a good day to lighten up on school and let the girls have lots of outside time. They're out in long sleeve shirts and pants enjoying the 45 degree weather! You think they've adjusted to the cooler temperatures of the north? :-)

Snow Pictures!

The girls enjoyed the first snow fall of the season. They got all bundled up and went out to play. They did snow angels and threw snow balls. They want to go sledding, but there's not quite enough snow yet. They got out the sand toys to play with the snow as well :-) Here are some pictures.
The first thing Hannah wanted to do was taste some snow.
All bundled up!
Snow angels!
They looked pretty good, easy to see with the grass.
Having fun running around
And cooking with the snow. It's like sand right?
Warming up in front of the pellet stove when they were done.
It has snowed a lot since the girls were out. They're having quiet time right now, but want to go out again afterwards. We'll see. Here's a picture from our back door. It's a winter wonderful land!

Pumpkins!

We brought pumpkins for Halloween weeks ago, but never craved them. The weekend before Halloween we were preparing for a storm. This past weekend we were out having fun. I was tried of the pumpkins sitting on my kitchen counter, so I decided today would be a good day to crave them. And we did! Hannah had a blast cleaning the pumpkin out and Evie enjoyed transferring the pattern onto the pumpkin for craving.
Evie applying the pattern to the pumpkin
 Hannah playing with pumpkin goop
Hannah working with her pattern, this lasted all of about 30 seconds :-)
Snow break! It started snowing while we were working on the pumpkins, so Hannah had to go out and see what it was all about! I don't blame her :-)
Evie with her bat pumpkin
And Hannah had a ghost on hers!
They decided to switch pumpkins because Evie's was bigger, so of course Hannah should hold that one :-)
