Willing to confess
Today while I was cleaning up the kitchen, moving laundry along and starting dinner I left the girls upstairs. Things got quiet so I called "Hannah, Evie" the response from Hannah "I'm not on the counter anymore, but Evie is. I just got down"

Robots
Tuesday was R day and the girls were at Niki's house. They learned about rainbows and made robots. Here is Hannah's robot:

When asked about her robot and what it does, she'll tell you how it helps her put on her pajamas. The white thing on the robot is pajamas. The robot is also a person.....with people on it, the things coming out of the black circles are people....they're sitting on the potty. Ahh, the creativity of a four year old!

Napping under the clouds
The other day when naps eluded my children this is what I found at one point while checking to see what they were up to.

a play day
Today we got out of the house early, we were at the park around 9 am. I thought it was going to be a nice day, they said the high was supposed to be 75...well it was cloudy and not so nice, but that's ok, the girls had a good time for the 45 minutes we stayed at the park, then we decided to go to the children's museum. We explored new sections we'd never been to and found some really fun stuff. The girls enjoyed it. After the museum, we came home did lunch and naps, when they got up I ran to the store to get a couple things and then we came back and they went outside while I made dinner. There was lots and lots of laughter as they were sliding down the slide bumping into each other. So much so that Hannah said to me at one point "it's hard to talk while you're laughing!" They have so much fun playing together, it's so much fun to watch! I went and took some pictures and Hannah asked why I was taking pictures, I said so I could show people how much fun they were having, so here they are:
water temperatures
Most people think of faucet water temperatures as hot and cold, not in Evie's world, there is cold and there is warm and cozy. Because it was cold for a few weeks our water took a little be to get warm, so she was regularly asking for "warm and cozy" water. Today, when I asked if she was using hot water she said "no, warm and cozy water" :-)

Look what we found!
We had some warm days this past weekend, like mid to upper 60s, but today it's back to cold. How cold you ask? Cold enough that I went out at 12:30 pm and there was still ice in the water table! That's pretty cold for Houston. The girls came out and explored it for a couple minutes, definitely not something they see....ever.
rewards
Evie in general is satisfied with washing her hands as her reward for going potty, there are occasions when she asks for something else, like last night. After peeing she came out and said "May I have a prune? I peed!!" Yes, she wanted a prune as her reward for peeing in the potty. I asked several times to clarify, as I couldn't believe a two year old was asking for a prune as a reward! Definitely her father's child.
a what?
Evie was calling me during nap time yesterday, I gave her a couple minutes and then went up to see what was going on. I found her in bed, she had been attempting to remove her puppy clips from her hair, but had finally gotten them out and was ok by the time I went in. However this is what I found:
When questioned about it she said "it was an accident" I had a hard time not laughing, and looking upset with her, we'll be working on the definition of accident :-)

being Mommy
Last night after finishing a book I said "it's bed time" Hannah pointed at me and said "this person's bed time?" I said no it was her bed time, and she proceeded to say it was my bed time, I decided to agreed since I was tired anyway and said she could stay up and I'd go to bed. I went up to my room, where Nathan was studying and got in bed. She came up shortly after me and came in the room. I asked since she was staying up, if she could empty the dishwasher, excited she ran down stairs and opened the dishwasher, just to run back up the stairs and tell me that water sprayed all over when she opened it, I realized it wasn't finished washing yet, so I had her go back down and close it and tell me what the numbers were on it. She came back and reported and indeed it was not finished. I asked her what she was going to do now that I was in bed and she was staying up. Her response was a very enthusiastic "I'm going to watch the numbers on the dishwasher!!!!" I started laughing and Nathan said "she needs to watch more TV" through his laughter.

Houston Museum of Natural Science
I took the girls to the museum of natural science today. They're in the process of adding to the museum, so apparently some of the exhibits are down, or parts have been moved already. The museum was not very interactive, as Hannah kept asking "where's the play room, I want to go play" The girls did enjoy seeing the African animals, and the chemistry section had some fun things to play with, so we managed to spend about an hour and a half there while Nathan stayed here and got some reading in without distraction. The new expansion looks like it will be a lot of fun form the website, but I couldn't find a date as to when it will be completed. Hopefully soon :-)
no snow :-(
We didn't get any snow yesterday. But we did have slightly icy conditions and all of NASA was shut down all day. Nathan still had to work, he just did it from home. Listening to the traffic on the radio in the morning it sounded like almost every major highway into Houston was shut down due to accidents. Not so good. Here's what it looked like at our house....
The girls and I hung out at home since the roads were a mess and made a mess inside with paints!

randomness
I used the heated seat feature on the new car :-) The high the next two days is 32, and it's not any warmer now. That is COLD for Houston, still hoping for the snow on Friday! Here are some random pictures I felt like sharing.

Evie took this picture herself, it's one of the best ones she's done. She loves to play with the camera, I thought this one would make Aunt Debbie proud

These two are of Evie yesterday, she wanted to wear a pretty dress, but then wouldn't like me take a picture, she wanted the picture taken of her puppy

This is Hannah with her "stick house" you could go inside it by standing inbeween the sticks :-)

This is Hannah's latest do, I think I really like it...it took forever, almost two hours (which means Hannah was up late last night since I start after Evie goes down), I definitely need more practice.

Hannah watched half an hour of Beauty and the Beast while I did part of it, since she has the princess book she's interested in princesses more, I'm not sure how I feel about that. But I have to stay the book isn't bad at all and has some good lessons and morals in it, much better than the movies in general.

Cake balls
I finished up the frosting. What did I do with the rest of it? I made a cookie cake, which I didn't get a picture of, and then I made some cake balls. I made cake balls with mint frosting, chocolate cake and white chocolate on the outside. Nathan thought making mint icing was going to wreck them, but I thought they turned out really good.
listening to four year olds
Have you listened to a four year old lately? Besides the fact that Hannah said she had to go fix her timing belt the other day (can you tell Daddy's been talking about cars a lot lately) here's some video of her and her friend Ally at lunch today.
Through out the day they were having most ridiculous conversations and then would crack up laughing

more car fun..
Thursday Nathan had a flat tire when he came out of work. Fortunately, he pumped it up and was able to drive home with it and Jud who he's been car pooling with, drives on Fridays. Saturday we got new tires for the car because they needed them anyway and we had been talking about getting them, the flat helped accomplish this goal. After not driving it again after getting the tires Nathan pulls out of the drive way Monday and the same tire was completely flat! He pumped it back up, picked up Jud then came back home and decided to take my car instead. I spent most of the morning at Sam's Club waiting for them to check out the tire, which they did a very thorough job on and came up with nothing. The tire was fine this morning, so hopefully it's good now. Maybe God wants us to only have one car?
