Animals @ the library

This past Tuesday the girls did one of the summer programs at the library where they bring in an organization called Animal Embassy who brings in lots of fun animals. This years theme was digging into nature, so they brought animals that dig. I stayed with the boys for the first animal (a giant frog!) but after that I handed my camera off to a friend and took the boys downstairs because they couldn't sit any longer. The girls had a lot of fun and were so excited to tell me about what they had seen!
When I went upstairs to pick the girls up Evie was distraught because she didn't get to "do" anything. Fortunately, they still had the hog-nosed snake out, so she got to pet that before we left.
They got to see this huge tortoise
It weights about 75 lbs.
They both enjoyed watching the baby turkey. The jar in his hand is life crickets, he let them out and the turkey chased them and ate them!
They got to see a scorpion
A hedgehog
The snake
Apparently some sort of salamander? They didn't tell me about this one :-)
A snapping turtle
And a very large frog that can sleep for an entire year!
All in all a fun and educational day!
