Are you familiar with the book Roxaboxen? It's a story about kids who make a town on a hill with boxes and rocks. We have the book and the girls decided to make their own Roxaboxen in our backyard.
They used wood and other odd things they found around the house/yard. Here's the entrance.
The hay is a bed, the wood is dividers for the different areas of the town.
