A day at the beach

This week we had an unscheduled play date Monday, which was great and Tuesday we had a scheduled play date with people we had met when we were here in March. I also found out that car insurance costs about three times what it cost in Connecticut where I was only an hour an a half outside New York City. That is wrong on so many levels to me. We managed to open a bank account here, setup trash service finally....and get curtains up in our living room. It's been a busy week. Today we took a break from the craziness of moving and trying to get things setup here and fixed up and finished up in New Milford and went to the beach! It's a good thing my kids think 70 degrees is swimming weather :-)

That's Kaleb running down the beach, you see the white above his head? That's a huge boat, because we're on a huge lake and we get big boats like that here.

Can you find Kaleb in this picture? He got cold and went and curled up under his towel, he's the brown spot on the sidewalk.

There is a wonderful park at the beach. They have seesaws! Nathan and I were seesawing :-) 

The park was really empty.....so the kids were having some fun doing things like standing in the baby swings.

Playing with driftwood.

This isn't a great picture because I was taking it in a hurry, but I wanted to be able to identify the beetle, and I did. It's an eye spotted lady beetle. They are actually native to America, unlike most lady beetles you see. We also saw a 14-spotted ladybird beetle, but I didn't get a picture of that one and it's not native.

The boys had a blast hanging out in this little area with lots of driftwood to play with. 

The kids are doing really well with the transition in general. Kaleb has been having a hard time leaving friends houses. I think this is because he had to say goodbye to a lot of people in Connecticut and here he's not sure if he'll see them again. The people we played with our from church, but we're currently visiting other churches in the area while we have the opportunity to before Nathan goes on staff. Other than that and having to learn rules about yards and where they can bike it's going well. They were very use to ruling the neighborhood before, so the yard thing took a little bit of time to learn :-)
