Fudge

We made our annual fudge this a couple weeks ago, 110 pounds of it. This is the 10th (what!?) year we've made it, kind of crazy! All the kids helped with the cooking and wrapping. It went quite well. Nathan said he thinks the flavors were the best we've done. We decided to cut our local fudge smaller this year. We made about 60 packages of all six flavors to hand out to people at church and neighbors and such. We started handing them out last Sunday. It is so fun to hear people's reactions. I asked the wife of Hannah's Sunday school teacher if her husband shared the fudge with her, her response: Oh yeah, we started eating it during service! It was so good.
The sermon was especially long that Sunday, so I could see where the fudge might help you get through it. We handed more out at the business meeting Sunday night, one person came up to me afterward and told me she and her husband had sampled every flavor during the business meeting. When handed a bag of the fudge several people asked if they had to share with their spouse. One said he was planning on going home and eating the entire 12 oz bag that night. People's love for sweets definitely comes out when they here the word fudge.
Here are some pictures from the process.
Most of the ingredients
The boys helping with the fudge, Kaleb, in the white is stirring fudge, while Damen is helping keep the caramel warm so it mixes in better. And Hannah didn't want to miss out on the picture :-)
I took new precautions this year to minimize burning, as I have several scares from fudge making in the past. Full long sleeves along with a glove that is easily removable if the burning liquid hits it (the sink is 12 feet from my stove, so it's much faster to remove the glove than get to the sink). It worked well.
Evie was very helpful as well, but apparently I didn't get any pictures of her......
Our flavors!
Chocolate Salted Caramel
Cookies & Cream
Chocolate Peanut Butter
White Chocolate Orange Cranberry. Nathan has a template that he used to cut the fudge this year, in past years he has just eyeballed it, but he got much more precise this year. It worked well.
Chocolate Raspberry
