Trout Fishing

Thursday we took the kids to Cedarbrook Trout Farm. We got to see how they raise the trout and hear about how they stock over 70 lakes with trout. They have even been stocking lake Huron with mature brown trout in our area as they have an annual brown trout festival and the trout numbers have been increasing since the farm we went to started adding the mature trout. There is also a pair of bald eagles that go and get two brown trout everyday from the farm. How fun is that? The farm is all spring fed and it was pretty incredible. Hannah walked away saying she wants to own a trout farm when she grows up!

After wandering around looking at and feeding the fish it was time to catch some!

She tried to get the hook out herself but couldn't quite manage it, so she held the fish while Nathan helped get the hook out

Each fish you caught you bought, they cleaned it for you and we got to hold the still beating heart which was kind of cool. We had a delicious dinner of smoked trout!
